The Rhett family owned the mansion for over a century until donating it to the Historical Charleston Foundation in the 1950s. The mansion is now open to visitors and provides a look into the lives of an affluent nineteenth-century family. During a 45-minute tour, visitors can see the grand parlour, formal dining room, servant quarters, and other rooms.
