While Paris is “The City of Love,” it is not the only romantic location in France. Nice is a beautiful, romantic, and underappreciated French city.

Also to its natural beauty, Nice has many hidden gems to discover, amazing experiences to enjoy, and memories to create. It is a destination that should be on everyone’s bucket list while visiting France.

Food Tour of Nice

On a fun culinary tour of Nice, you’ll get to know the city and its cuisine on a whole new level, as you sample some of the greatest regional delicacies the French Riviera has to offer! Bring your appetite because you will be eating well as you sample! Food tours in new cities are a great way to experience a variety of different meals (without having to prepare!) and learn a lot about the dishes, the place, and the culture. We’ve had a great time on all of our culinary trips!

The Promenade Des Anglais

The Promenade Des Anglais (the English Walkway) is Nice’s most famous attraction and jewel, a very wide promenade that runs all down the Mediterranean. It stretches for miles and has access to the beaches (which are gorgeous but rocky). People can be seen running, walking, biking, rollerblading, and (the best of all past times) people watching along the trail. And I recommend them all!

Wine Tasting

You can’t visit France and not sample some of the world’s best wines! There are almost 27,000 wineries in France, producing over 200 wine kinds! Of course, you can drink wine almost anyplace in France, but a dedicated tasting room will guide you across a variety of wine selections (including red, white, and rosé). This 2-hour event takes place in the back of a wine shop in Old Town, making it easy to fit into your Nice agenda.

La Colline Du Château

Walking east down the Promenade, you’ll notice that it curves up and out towards the sea as it wraps around a hill. This hill, known as La Colline du Chateau or Castle Hill, is ideal for exploring and is a must-do activity in Nice. On the west side, you can reach the hill from the Promenade by taking the (many) stairs to the left of Hotel Suisse. It is accessible from the Port area on the east side via a tangle of short ramps and steps. We’ve accessed it from both sides, and both are intriguing enough that you should go up one way and come down the other.

Vélo Bleu Rentals

The Vélo Bleu is Nice’s and the surrounding towns’ city-wide bike rental system. Renting a bike and cycling around Nice for an hour is a great way to view the sites. It is simple to rent a bike and use the system. Install the Vélo Bleu app on your phone and enter the data on your credit card before you go. When you get to town, use the app to find the nearest bike renting location, scan the QR code, and go! You can return the bike to any open place, not just the one where you picked it up. It’s a laid-back way to experience the city and a visitor secret gem in Nice.

Marché Aux Fleurs

This quaint flower market is a popular stop for residents looking for fresh vegetables, but it is also a tourist attraction in its own right! One of the most delightful aspects of travelling is pretending to be a true local, and markets are *the* place to do it. This is the place to go if you want flowers for your accommodation, souvenirs (look for soaps, lavender goods, jams, herbs, and olive oil), or a bite to eat. It’s also one of the best local locations to visit in Nice.
